The fins are constructed of quality aluminum alloys which have been hard anodized for endurance and longevity. The magnet casing is also constructed of aircraft quality aluminum alloy fixated by 0.1878 dowel pins for superior locking action. The magnet is a molded neodymium magnet with the correct strength and properties to produce solid coil energy. This same feature provides thermal protection and superior resistance to demagnetization. The steel is a 1144 grade medium carbon alloy which has mechanical properties of 100,000 psi tensile strength and yield strength of 95,000 psi. The steel is phosphate coated for long life and is impervious to oxidation. The flywheel is assembled and balanced on a Coborn Strobodyne balancer to an amplitude and frequency sensitivity of 2 um or better. This provides smooth operation to 12,000 rpm. |
